Cement Testing
Vicat Needle Apparatus
The Vicat Needle Apparatus is used for determining the quantity of water required to produce a cement paste of standard consistency, as recommended in various international standards. The standard consistency is attained when the 10 mm plunger of the apparatus penetrates the material to a pre-determined depth under free-fall. This apparatus consists of a metallic frame bearing a movable rod with a cap at the top, a Vicat mould (frustum of a cone), and a glass base plate.
Key Features
- Precision guided plunger rod
- Clear readable indicator scale on metallic frame
- Reversible needles for initial/final setting tests
- Complies with BIS and ASTM laboratory standards
